Beach And Desert Tour From Agadir
Day 1: Arrive in Agadir
We will meet you at the Airport in Agadir and then transfer you to your Riad/Hotel. We will have a short tour of the city of Agadir to get to know the way of life there. Agadir is a modern city located in the southern part of the Atlantic coast of Morocco. it is a shortened version of the Berber word “Agadir nir”, meaning fortified granary. The city is blessed with 10 km (6 miles) of wide sandy beach and an average of 300 days of sunshine a year.
Day 2: Agadir City Tour
Today, we will discover the city of Agadir with a local English-speaking guide who will pick you up at your hotel to start this fantastic Agadir experience. The city tour will include the most stunning sights of Agadir:
The Kasbah: The Kasbah was built in 1540 by the Saadians to protect the city from the Portuguese. The ocean looks great from the height of the 240-meter cliff, which offers a panoramic view of the entire city and port.
Ports: fishing port, shipyard, major commercial port, and marina.
Ancient Talborjt: The old city of Agadir is a mass grave for all those who died in the 1960 earthquake.
Great Mosque of Mohammed V: Talborjt Mosque, the largest stone in the city. only to take pictures outside, access is reserved for Muslims.
Argan Cooperative: Informative visit to a women’s cooperative for the production of culinary and cosmetic oils. Presentation of the Argan company and its products.
Bazaar el-Had in Arabic means Sunday market, spread over thirteen hectares (it is the largest market in Morocco), with walls up to six meters high and with thirteen gates. There are 2,000 retailers selling food and buying souvenirs, the atmosphere alone here makes the trip worthwhile. It’s total sensory immersion and a great place to get lost for a while.
Day 3: Agadir – Taroudant – Ouarzazate
We will leave Agadir which has the main beach resort of the Kingdom, located on the shores of a beautiful bay with an endless sandy beach, in the middle of dunes and evergreen forests. The sun shines here for more than 300 days a year, and Agadir’s beach competes with the famous Copa Cobana beach in its beauty.
Continue our journey to Taroudant (4 hours excluding stops). Taroudant is called the “grandmother of Marrakech” because this city was the capital in the XVI century before it was transferred to Marrakech, and its powerful city walls resemble those of Marrakech. Now, this small quiet town is known for its handicrafts, especially carpets and jewelry.
Next head to Ouarzazate Through the High Atlas. On this day we will visit the famous ksar Ait Ben Haddu. This fortified village, adjacent to the mountain on one side, is one of the most famous and typical adobe villages (ksars) in southern Morocco, and UNESCO world heritage site since 1987. Then, continue to the city of Ouarzazate, and we will visit Moroccan Hollywood! These places served as scenery for the films “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Gladiator”, “Mummy”, “Alexander”, “Prince of Persia”, and “Pearl of the Nile”. We will spend the night in a riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Zagora – Ouarzazate
Today, we will have a day trip to Zagora one of the most popular attractions in the Draa Valley. Arrive at Zagora, which is known as the gate to Sahara. It has a beautiful desert and amazing camps as well. A few kilometers away from Zagora village, we will stop at Tamegroute where a famous mosque with a blue faience roof and white minarets is located. Then visit the Koranic library which was created in the 16th century. Next, continue to Zagora village for lunch.
In The Afternoon, we will drive back to Ouarzazate and visit Draa Valley, an oasis in the heart of the Sahara Desert. It is a popular destination for travelers who like advantages. The valley is home to the most iconic landscapes, hotels, and resorts as well as many outdoor activities. We will have a stop to enjoy the view before we continue to Ouarzazate for the overnight.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Todgha Gorges – Ouarzazate
Today, we will have a day trip to one of the most picturesque places in Morocco to enjoy the natural beauty, and landscapes of the place. The village we are visiting today is Tinghir and more specifically Todgha gorges. We will pass through the little Berber villages of Skoura, ‘El Kelaa M’Gouna’ (known for roses production, and the village that hosts the Festival of Roses every year), and ‘Boumalene Dades’. Then continue to Todgha Gorges which are 300 meters high. We will enjoy the beautiful landscape and the walk next to the river. Todgha gorges are our final stop for the day. In the afternoon, we will return to Ouarzazate, we will stop at Dades gorges and Klaat M’gouna as well.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Marrakesh
In the morning we will continue our journey. We are moving to Marrakesh. To do this, we will need to cross the High Atlas and overcome the Tizin-Tishka pass at an altitude of 2260 meters. From there, a unique panoramic view of the valleys.
We will arrive in Marrakesh in the afternoon. We will see the Koutoubia Mosque – the pride of Marrakesh, its true symbol. The 70-meter minaret of the mosque is visible from almost anywhere in the city and is a convenient reference point for lost tourists (as it is easy to get lost in the medina!). We will visit the Saadian tombs, where the founder of the famous Arab dynasty rests, and where the remains of sixty-six of his descendants are buried. We will see the magnificent palaces of Marrakesh – Bahia and the ruins of the once luxurious El Badi. Be sure to go to the local bazaar, and consider the products of local artisans. Of course, we will go for a walk along the famous Jemaa El Fna Square. This is a meeting place for merchants, storytellers, and snake charmers. A place where colors, smells of spices, the cries of sellers, and the sounds of musical instruments are mixed.
Day 7: Marrakesh – Essaouira – Agadir
After breakfast, we drive to Essaouira through the area where argan trees and cedar forests grow. We will certainly see this special Moroccan miracle (goats grazing right on the trees!), and, of course, we will visit the factory of argan oil – the most valuable in the world! Arriving in Essaouira which is called “Mogador” by the Portuguese. This city is surrounded by a fortress wall and is located on the very shore of the Atlantic Ocean. The stark white medina of Essaouira is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Essaouira attracts artists from all over the world who stay here to breathe in the fabulous air of the old trading port and the largest pirate center. We inspect the local Medina, the fish market, the Jewish quarter “Mellah” and the port. Essaouira boasts that the best cabinetmakers and sculptors of Morocco work here. Here we will buy argan oil and numerous beauties, Essaouira is the best city to shop for traditional handicrafts.
We will stay the rest of the day in the romantic Essaouira to eat the freshest oysters straight from the ocean, walk around the fishing port that looks like a pirate Tortuga, eat freshly cooked fish and watch one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.
Continue to Agadir where we will have the overnight.
Day 8: Agadir Airport
After breakfast, time at your leisure in Agadir. Then, transfer to the Airport. You will be assisted with check-in for your return flight.
