Morocco Trip From Agadir 8 Days
Day 1: Arrive in Agadir
After a powerful earthquake in 1960, Agadir was completely rebuilt and today is a thriving tourist destination with wide streets, flowering gardens, and modern elegant architecture. Upon arrival in the city, we will visit the observation deck on the mountain near the ruined fortress of Ufella of the 16th century. with breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the Gulf of Agadir. In the evening, from the city beach of Agadir, you can see an inscription in Arabic burning on the mountain: “Alla, al-Watan, al-malik”, which means “God, homeland, king.”
Day 2: Agadir – Taroudant – Ouarzazate
We will leave Agadir which has the main beach resort of the Kingdom, located on the shores of a beautiful bay with an endless sandy beach, in the middle of dunes and evergreen forests. The sun shines here for more than 300 days a year, and Agadir’s beach competes with the famous Copa Cobana beach in its beauty.
Continue our journey to Taroudant (4 hours excluding stops). Taroudant is called the “grandmother of Marrakech” because this city was the capital in the XVI century before it was transferred to Marrakech, and its powerful city walls resemble those of Marrakech. Now, this small quiet town is known for its handicrafts, especially carpets and jewelry.
Next head to Ouarzazate Through the High Atlas. On this day we will visit the famous ksar Ait Ben Haddu. This fortified village, adjacent to the mountain on one side, is one of the most famous and typical adobe villages (ksars) in southern Morocco, and UNESCO world heritage site since 1987. Then, continue to the city of Ouarzazate, and we will visit Moroccan Hollywood! These places served as scenery for the films “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Gladiator”, “Mummy”, “Alexander”, “Prince of Persia”, and “Pearl of the Nile”. We will spend the night in a riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 3: Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges – Todgha Gorges – Rissani – Merzouga
In the morning, we will drive towards Merzouga the Sahara Desert. We will visit different villages on our way such as Klaat M’gouna Valley, (it is known for roses that are used to make different cosmetics products), Dades valley, and Tinghir to visit one of the strong points of the South: The Todra Gorges. The channel of the Todra River has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions and great beauty; It is a climber’s paradise and a unique place. We will have lunch at the site and a half-hour walk to see the Gorges calmly. Continue towards the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Next, Erfoud where we will visit the fossilized marble factory. Afterward, depart to Rissani, and visit its Market which is the most important in the south, where all the desert nomads go to do their shopping. Later, we will drive to Merzouga to enjoy our time in the desert. Overnight in a hotel at Merzouga.
Day 4: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Excursion in The Desert
After your breakfast in the hotel, we will meet our 4×4 driver to have an excursion in the desert. We will drive through the dunes, then visit the Nomad families who still live in their tents, and have a chance to get in touch with nomadic life. Then we continue to visit Khamlia village, where you will have your lunch, and listening to some Gnawa music, and see their dance performance. In the afternoon, we will go back to our hotel to rest and have a cup of tea. They have a camel ride to the camp where we will have the overnight and enjoy the sunset on our way. Once we arrive, we will have a traditional Berber dinner that is served right in the middle of the desert and enjoy Berber songs with drums performance. We spend the night there, in the desert, in luxurious tents with all facilities under a sky full of stars.
Day 5: Merzouga – Alnif – N’kob – Zagora
Wake up in the early morning to enjoy the sunrise from the top of the dunes, then return to the camp for breakfast. On our way back to Merzouga, you can choose between riding a camel or driving a 4×4. Then, we will leave this small village in the southeastern Moroccan Sahara Desert which is considered the gateway to the large dune field. Our next destination is Zagora passing by different villages and towns such as Anif which is a town in the province of Tinghir. Then continue to N’koub another small village in the province of Zagora. The place has a lot of palm trees along the valley. We will have a lunch break at that place before we continue our journey. Arrive at Zagora, which is known as the gate to Sahara. It has a beautiful desert and amazing camps as well. However, on our tour, we are going to the famous Shara Desert of Merzouga. A few kilometers away from Zagora, we will stop at Tamegroute where a famous mosque with a blue faience roof and white minarets is located. Then visit the Koranic library which was created in the 16th century. Next, continue to Zagora village where we will have the overnight.
Day 6: Zagora – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakesh
Today, we will leave Zagora one of the most popular attractions in the Draa Valley for Marrakesh. On our way, we will visit Draa valley, an oasis in the heart of the Sahara Desert. It is a popular destination for travelers who like advantages. The valley is home to the most iconic landscapes, hotels, and resorts as well as many outdoor activities. We will have a stop to enjoy the view before we continue to Ouarzazate, a home of several film studios such as Atlas Studio which is one of the largest film studios in the world.
Afterward, head to Marrakesh. To do this, we will need to cross the High Atlas and overcome the Tizin-Tishka pass at an altitude of 2260 meters. From there, a unique panoramic view of the valleys. We will arrive in Marrakesh in the afternoon, we will do the check-in on the Riad, relax and have a cup of mint tea. Then, have a short tour of the famous Jemaa El Fna Square which is a meeting place for merchants, storytellers, and snake charmers. A place where colors, smells of spices, the voice of sellers, and the sounds of musical instruments are mixed.
Day 7: Marrakesh City Tour
After breakfast in your hotel, your local tour guide will pick you up at your hotel and accompany you while discovering the city’s most amazing places such as El Badi Palace, Bahia Palace, Majorelle garden, YSL museum, the Saadian tombs (which date back to the 16th century), the Menara gardens and the Koutoubia Mosque. Then visit the bustling market of the city that is full of different products that you can buy as souvenirs for your family and friends.
All this exploring will surely build up your appetite so later you can binge on all kinds of street food in the Djemaa-El-Fnaa square or simply enjoy freshly squeezed orange juice in one of the many rooftop cafes overlooking the square.
Day 8: Marrakesh To Agadir
After breakfast, a departure from the city of Marrakesh and transfer to Agadir airport. You will be assisted with check-in for your return flight.
