4 days and 3 nights from Nador to Merzouga Desert via Fes, Ifrane the little Switzerland of Morocco, wild monkeys Azrou forest… It’s a great itinerary to experience the Sahara desert and Nomad life in the best way.
Day 1: DESERT TOUR FROM NADOR – FES.
Pick up at the border of Beni-Ansar or Airport/port of Nador, bound for Fes, we begin our visit to the religious city of the country. Founded in the 8th century by Idriss II, it is considered one of the four imperial capitals. During this visit, we will take a tour of the most emblematic places, such as the doors of the Royal Palace, the Jewish quarter, and the fortress that has the best view of Fes el Bali, the medina. We take a walking tour of several hours, accessing through the famous Bab Boujloud gate and the medina. We will experience a thousand smells and flavors in this place considered a world heritage site. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 2:FES – IFRAN – AZROU FOREST – MERZOUGA DESERT.
After breakfast, we set our destination to the Merzouga desert. We will pass through the City of Ifran called the little Switzerland of Morocco, and then through Azrou, where we will make a stop in its Cedar forest and observe a colony of monkeys that lives there. We will continue to Zaida for lunch and some rest. Then we continue through the Atlas mountains enjoying the Medilt landscape until we reach the small town of Rich, Erfoud, where we begin to feel the air of the Sahara with the oasis of Tafilalet. We will take a short break from the trip, we will take the camels to spend a night in Berber nomads camp.
Day 3: MERZOUGA DESERT EXCURSION.
After sunrise among the Erg Chebbi dunes, we will return to the camp for breakfast. Then we will leave for the dromedaries that will take us back with our guide. Here, the real adventure with 4 × 4 we will cross the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Visitors will be able to explore the authentic desert and see the most unusual and unforgettable places that will undoubtedly leave their mark on their minds. The guide will continue with a visit to the nomads, the Mifis mines, and of course, with a well-deserved rest, we will be able to taste the famous Berber pizza. A group of musicians from Gnaoua will entertain this evening in the village of Khamlia. In the afternoon, we will continue our excursion to the Hasilabied palm grove where we will stop to see first-hand the agricultural life of the desert. It is worth mentioning the famous irrigation of the orchards in the area. Before returning to the accommodation, and with the sunset in the background, hikers will climb the highest dune. As a finishing touch to the day, we will spend the night having dinner at the Riad.
Day 4: MERZOUGA DESERT – MIDELT – IFRANE – NADOR / MELILIA.
We will get up early to have breakfast and set the course for our destination, although we will make some stops like in Rissani to make a small visit to the market and its famous donkey parking, a unique place, where all the nomadic tribes come to stock up, a visit very curious.
We will leave the arid landscapes of the desert to venture towards the peaks of the Atlas and discover a totally different side of Morocco. We will pass through endless oases, we will enter the volcanic Gorges of Ziz and we will see fortresses or walled villages of raw earth and fortified buildings or fortified buildings characteristic of the architecture of southern Morocco.
We will continue through the Middle Atlas mountain range and the large cedar forests near the city of Ifran. Here we will stop for lunch before continuing on our way to Nador.
